Workplace
Workplaces are an ideal setting to promote healthy eating as a lot of people spend most of their day at work and have at least one meal there. Local government employs over two million people and so is one of the largest employers in the UK.
Many local authorities provide places where staff can purchase food and therefore offer direct opportunities to provide safe, sustainable and healthy food. Even workplaces without canteens can get involved by addressing the catering they provide for meetings, conferences and events. Workplaces can also encourage employees to eat more healthily by providing good kitchen facilities or healthier snacks.
